What happens on a hydrant flow test

This is the day as a technician sees it — and why the report should be finished before the hose is back on the reel.

On the landing valve

You set up, you flow, you read gauges, you watch for defects. The numbers that matter are the ones you have in your hand right now. Writing “see notebook” is how they disappear.

What the client is actually buying

Not the water on the driveway. The record: date, system, figures, pass or fail, who was there. Building managers file that. Insurers and auditors ask for it later.

Finish it on site

Photos of the gauges. Both signatures. A report your office can sign off when you are still in the car. That is the difference between a test and a test plus three hours of typing.
